Trouble Won’t Last Always

Finding Your Second Wind in the Fire

The weight of the world has a specific way of pressing down until your ribs feel like they might snap. We’ve all been there—standing in the foyer of the church, or perhaps in the grocery store aisle, and someone asks that standard, polite question: "How are you doing?"

The "blessed and highly favored" response has become an automatic reflex, a polished shield we hold up while our private lives are under siege. We say the words while our bank accounts are bleeding, our homes are cold battlegrounds, and our peace is hanging by a single, frayed thread.

We hide behind the mask because we’ve been told that faith means never admitting we’re "torn up from the floor." But God isn't looking for a polished lie. Real, mountain-moving faith doesn't start in a place of perfection; it starts in the dirt—with the raw, unfiltered honesty of where we stand and the iron-clad truth of who He is.

The Anatomy of Overwhelmed

If you feel like you are being pressed on every side, you are in good company. In 2 Corinthians 4, the Apostle Paul describes a life that sounds more like a battlefield than a sanctuary. He speaks of being troubled, perplexed, and persecuted.

"However, there is a recurring 'but' in his narrative. We are troubled, but not distressed. We are perplexed, but not in despair."

Being overwhelmed isn't just a feeling; it is a strategic mental attack designed to hijack your focus. When the enemy wants to derail your destiny, he doesn't always start with a catastrophe. Often, he starts with a distraction. He wants you to fix your eyes on the "trouble" until the "Truffle"—the prize of your calling—is completely out of sight.

Faith in the Struggle

Whether it is a troubled job, a troubled family member, or a troubled heart, the pressure is to make you look at what is in front of you instead of looking to the hills from which comes your help.

The Purpose of the Pressure

We often fall into the trap of believing that walking in God’s will means a path paved with easy victories and golden light. We assume that if struggle shows up, God must have stepped out. But the truth found in Scripture is much heavier.

Trouble isn't a sign of His absence; it’s the very workshop He uses to forge our spirit. Think of it as a divine furnace. The heat isn't there to burn you away—it’s there to melt the impurities out of your character until only the steel remains. You aren't being consumed; you're being refined.

Gold isn't purified in a lukewarm bath; it is purified in a furnace. The heat isn't there to consume the gold; it’s there to consume the dross. If you are in a fire right now, it isn't because God is finished with you. It’s because He is refining you.

Spiritual Strength

Trouble is designed to:

  • Build Character It forces you to find out what you are truly made of when the "airy influencer" vibes disappear.
  • Develop Strength You cannot expect to get strong in a gym if you never pick up a weight. In the same way, you cannot expect a powerful testimony if you never endure a test.
  • Force Submission Many of us are fiercely independent until we hit a wall that won't move. Trouble brings us to the end of our own intelligence and to the beginning of His power.

The Prowler and the Promise

We have to be alert. First Peter 5:8 warns us that the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. He is looking for a name to cross off his list. He works overtime, on holidays, and especially on Sundays.

But here is the catch: he is like a roaring lion. He has the noise, but for the believer, he lacks the final authority. We are told to stand firm against him, not by our own grit, but by our strong faith.

When the enemy comes to devour your peace, you have to remind yourself that God cares for you. Not a generic, distant care—but a deep, personal concern that covers you even when you're making choices you aren't proud of. He might not approve of the mess, but He never stops caring for the messenger.

A New Horizon

Spiritual Exercise: Burning Off the Fat

A significant reason many of us struggle to find victory is that we’ve become "spiritually overweight." We come to service, eat the Word, get "fat" on the revelation, and then go home to sit on the couch. We work remotely more than we work in our office.

If you want to see the power of God move in your life, you have to burn off the fat by exercising the Word. The best time to exercise your faith isn't when life is easy; it's when the trouble arrives. That is when you get the protein of the Word moving through your spirit. That is when you grow.

How do we exercise?

Communion
Stay in constant conversation with the Father, not just when you're in a panic.
Meditation
Fix your gaze on the things that cannot be seen. The bank balance is visible and temporary; God’s provision is invisible and eternal.
The Declaration
Stop saying "I can’t." Christ Jesus is the one who provides the strength.

The Interim of Hope

As we navigate 2026, the declaration for New Life Christian Fellowship Center is clear: we shall not be afraid. We refuse to be discouraged by the barriers in front of us or the challenges that lie ahead.

Isaiah 41:10 is a direct command: "Don't be afraid, for I am with you." God doesn't just promise to be a spectator in your struggle. He promises to strengthen you and help you. He is the separator between you and the thing trying to destroy you. He is the encampment of angels around your midnight hour.

A New Horizon

Your present troubles are small. That might be hard to hear when the pain is loud, but in the context of eternity, they are a blink of an eye. They are water under the bridge—running water that keeps moving downstream while you stay anchored in the Rock.

Trouble doesn't always. It is a season, not a sentence. It is a refinement, not a ruin. If you are hurting today, if you are perplexed, or if you feel like the fire has been turned up seven times hotter—look around. There is a fourth man in the fire with you. He is lifting you up with His right hand, and He is making you victorious even when you can't hold yourself up.

STAND TALL, NEW LIFE

Fix your gaze on the eternal. The best is yet to come.
